We could all use a boost to our spirits lately. Tensions are high, tolerance is low, patience is next to nothing. A collective sense of feeing l depleted and overwhelmed exists. There is no certainty in making plans. Joy sounds like a word, not a feeling.
What if I could guarantee you at least a moment, or two of reprieve, would you believe me? I’m not promising eternal happiness, just a temporary emotional boost. You have what it takes, we all do, it’s just a matter of being willing to give in order to get. Money and material items are not what I am referring to at all. I am talking about free stuff. Don’t we all have enough blood to donate in order to save a life? There is no price tag on prayers, and we can all use more of those. Do we not each have talents that would bring a smile to a frowning face if we shared them more freely? Is a smile not a gift in itself?
Giving generously of these gifts boosts the spirits of the giver and the recipient. These are things we can share in abundance, and without risk of a deficit to anyone. If I can help lighten your load and still carry mine, would we both not reap the benefits? You for having received help, and myself for being able to share aid. The minimal time it takes if any, to give of yourself, pales in comparison to the increase in positivity experienced.
Give yourself an emotional boost. Offer a compliment, or hold a door open for someone, the sense of appreciation that you receive in return will be worth the effort. Eternal happiness, no, but a temporary moment of feel good, absolutely!
