Many words begin with the prefix “un.” Those two letters at the beginning of a word usually carry a negative connotation. Think about it. The words uncomfortable, uninspiring, and undone don’t hint at positivity. Most words that start with “un” come into play when change occurs. Change is a constant, which means we face a lot of “uns” in life. So, how do we lose the “un?” We embrace it; that’s how! The more we accept change, the sooner we lose the “un.” Change is not always bad, but it does require us to move out of our comfort zones. We must settle into the newness of situations. With time, what was uncomfortable becomes comfortable.
Take, for example, a new baby or a new job. Both of these scenarios involve many unfamiliar aspects. Eventually, you establish your footing and confidence. All of the “uns” fade away. They become familiar, comfortable, and sure. Accepting and learning from change empowers us to grow as individuals. There is no such thing as ungrowth, but there is unwillingness to grow. We hold ourselves back from our potential when we face change with too much reluctance.
Lose the “un” and free your potential to face change with an open mind.
