It’s my belief that the majority of people are good. Why then do bad things happen to good people? The truth is, life happens to all people. Good things and bad things occur in the lives of good and bad people. Life doesn’t decipher people or situations into categories. There is no separating the deserving from the undeserving when it comes to what life doles out. Sickness, job loss, and divorce are all examples of potentially bad situations, but not everything about them has to be negative. The good, bad, ugly, and beautiful are all learning opportunities. Don’t ask why bad things happen to you, ask what you can do with the experience. Use all situations to your advantage by growing from them. Recognize the positives that present themselves.
There are pros and cons to every situation. Bad things happen to good people, but not everything that appears bad actually is. Bad things can ultimately have good results. Had I not been stopped in my tracks because of a car accident, perhaps I wouldn’t have taken the time to write a book and discovery a new passion. Writing has allowed me to offer help and support to many people who I otherwise would not have reached. For as much as I loved designing I was looking for a new career challenge. The accident allowed me to pause long enough to reevaluate what was contributing to my happiness or holding me back. Being that my writing started in the form a memoir, I have to be thankful for the “bad things” that occurred, which gave me the story I was willing to share.
Bad things do happen to good people, but they have a way of turning into good things when we are willing to use the situations to our advantage.
