Light and sound travel swiftly, much quicker than time, but the speed of life has its own pace. Days, weeks, and months pass in the blink of an eye. Before you know it, whole years have come and gone. There are also the stints of life that crawl by because they are so exciting or dreadful that the waiting seems unbearable. These are the days when patience is put to the test and a fast-forward button is desired. No matter how trying life can be, time is the one thing people can’t get enough of. We complain when time slips through our hands and when it passes too slowly.
A life well-lived is filled with as much living as possible, but we still desire more. Savoring each moment is the only way to keep up with the speed of life. Enjoying wherever you are in your journey is the key to capitalizing on however much time you are given. Accepting the trying times helps us appreciate the more pleasant days. We can control many aspects of life, but the speed of life isn’t one of them. Every day, each of us is where we are meant to be.
When tomorrow dawns, another bucket of life will be waiting to be filled. How you fill it will with will be up to you. You can cram in as much as possible or choose to leave room for more. How much is in your pail is less important than what you fill your pail with. As long as you can cherish the contents of your bucket, how long it takes to fill it isn’t important. Enjoy the time you have, the fast-paced years, and the crawling days, for all of them count. The speed of life can’t be measured, only lived.
