Living in Colorado I have the privilege of experiencing the gifts of all four seasons. Each abounds with its own abundance of wonder and joy. It seems to me that life is not so different.
Just as the cyclical change of the seasons is necessary to keep its balance so must we as humans alter ourselves. The only difference between people and nature is that people have the choice to change.
After twenty-plus years of being an interior designer, I have finally given myself permission to change seasons, to become something else, a writer. My passion for design has long been fading. I ignored my quiet internal request to write for years. The voice never raised above a whisper and it never stopped either.
The summer blossoms have transitioned into the vibrant colors of fall, so have I. I have traded one beauty for another, one creativity for another. Letting go of all of the fears that I allowed to hold me back, not only freed me, but unveiled a new part of myself that I wasn’t aware existed. This season I find myself in is new and exciting. Exchanging flowers for fall foliage hasn’t exactly been easy, but the rewards have been greater than I could have imagined.
I choose to revel in every season of my life. I hope that you too will allow yourself to indulge in whatever season of life you are in. Give yourself permission to change when your inner voice whispers to you. There is beauty in every season and a season for us all.
